UPI Collections lets you collect payments from customers digitally without sharing your bank account details. You generate a secure payment link from an invoice, share it with your customer, and Aczen Bilz tracks the collection and matches it back to the invoice automatically.
UPI Collections is powered by Cashfree Payments, one of India’s leading payment gateways. You need to connect a Cashfree account before generating payment links. This feature is currently being rolled out region by region — see the availability note in your Aczen Bilz dashboard.

How it works

  1. You raise an invoice in Aczen Bilz
  2. You generate a payment link from the invoice — Cashfree creates a hosted payment page
  3. You share the link with your customer via WhatsApp, email, or any other channel
  4. Your customer pays using UPI, credit/debit card, or net banking
  5. Cashfree notifies Aczen Bilz of the payment
  6. The invoice is automatically marked as paid or partially paid

Supported payment methods

Customers can pay using any of the following methods through the Cashfree-hosted payment page:

UPI

Any UPI app — GPay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM, Amazon Pay, and others. Works for amounts up to ₹1 lakh per transaction.

Credit & Debit Cards

Visa, Mastercard, RuPay, and American Express. Supports EMI for eligible cards.

Net Banking

All major Indian banks supported, including SBI, HDFC, ICICI, Axis, Kotak, and others.

Wallets

Paytm, Mobikwik, Freecharge, and other RBI-authorized prepaid instruments.

Setting up UPI Collections

Go to Settings

Open Settings → Payments in Aczen Bilz.

Connect Cashfree

Click Connect Cashfree. You will be prompted to enter your Cashfree App ID and Secret Key. If you do not have a Cashfree account, sign up at cashfree.com — the process takes a few minutes and requires your GST number and bank details.

Verify the connection

After saving your credentials, Aczen Bilz runs a test to confirm the connection is working. A green status indicator confirms you are ready.

Set your settlement account

Log in to your Cashfree dashboard to confirm that settlements are directed to your correct bank account. Collections typically settle within 1–2 business days.
UPI Collections is currently not available in all regions. If you see a “Service Temporarily Unavailable” message in your dashboard, the feature will be activated for your region soon. You can use the Call CFO option to speak with a financial advisor in the meantime.

Open the invoice

Go to Sales → Invoices and open the invoice you want to collect payment for.

Click Share or Collect

Click the Collect Payment or Generate Link option on the invoice. Aczen Bilz passes the invoice amount and customer details to Cashfree.

Copy and share the link

Cashfree returns a unique payment link. Copy it and send it to your customer via WhatsApp, email, or SMS. The link opens a branded payment page where the customer sees the invoice amount and can choose their payment method.

Track payment status

Return to Finance & Payments → UPI Collections to see the status of all active payment links. Status updates automatically every 30 seconds for links that have not yet been paid.
You can also generate a standalone payment link — not tied to an invoice — from Finance & Payments → Payments. Select a vendor or customer, enter an amount and description, and click Generate Payment Link. This is useful for collecting deposits or ad-hoc payments.

Viewing and reconciling collections

The UPI Collections screen shows each payment request with its current status:

CancelledLink was manually cancelled
When a payment is received, Aczen Bilz matches it to the originating invoice and updates the invoice status automatically. If the payment is for less than the invoice total, the invoice moves to Partial status with the remaining balance shown.

Downloading collection reports

To export your UPI collection data:
  1. Go to Finance & Payments → UPI Collections
  2. Click Export or Download
  3. Choose a date range if prompted
  4. A CSV file downloads with payment link ID, customer, amount, payment date, status, and transaction reference
You can also download detailed settlement reports directly from your Cashfree dashboard for reconciliation with your bank statement.

Transaction fees

Cashfree charges a payment processing fee on each transaction. The fee varies by payment method (UPI, card, net banking) and your Cashfree plan. These charges are deducted at settlement time and will appear in your Cashfree settlement reports. Check your Cashfree plan for the current fee schedule.
Transaction processing fees charged by Cashfree are not reflected in Aczen Bilz automatically. Record them as a Bank Charges expense if you want your books to accurately reflect net collections.
